"Many thanks for providing a much needed and good-value service that became a great talking point among our guests at the wedding! Although quite a few of the older guests struggled with the concept and arrived armed with cheques instead, there were only 4 guests out of 130 that didn't agree with the idea and arrived with wrapped presents. Most loved the idea and plan to use you themselves in the future." Adelle and Phil, Loughborough
"It has been a really great service and I know a number of our friends are definitely going to make their lists through you guys." Matt and Charlotte, Bristol
With so many couples having lived together before tying the knot these days, the usual wedding gift list items of towels and teapots just aren’t appropriate. And whilst whizzing round John Lewis with a scanner might seem fun, do you really need those things when you could use your gift list for something totally memorable like the best possible honeymoon?
Well, with a gift list at The Bottom Drawer that’s exactly what you can do. You may want to use it to collect funds that top up what you were going to spend on your honeymoon anyway but allowing you to stay in a better hotel, or upgrade your flights to first class, or add on excursions. Or you may want to use it to pay for the whole honeymoon – the choice is totally yours.
You simply create gift list items that represent parts of your overall honeymoon and decide how much each should be and how many of them you want. For example, you might create a gift list item of each section of 100 miles towards your honeymoon destination, and have 10 of them if you are going somewhere about 1000 miles away! Or you might have one gift list item of two glasses of champagne on arrival in your honeymoon resort. Don’t worry if you don’t know exactly how much these items are likely to cost, just put in an amount which seems appropriate. Below is an example of a honeymoon gift list that has been created exactly like this.

You can order some of our stylish gift list notification cards to let your guests know where your gift list is held. Your guests can then access your gift list online or via the telephone to select which items they would like to contribute towards and can pay online using credit or debit cards or reserve an item and send a cheque to us instead. Your gift list is automatically updated and you receive an email telling you when a guest has bought something on your honeymoon gift list so you can log-in to your secure homepage on our site to see details of who has bought what and the messages they have left for you at any time.
With a honeymoon gift list at The Bottom Drawer you can also add photos to each individual gift list item to make it more interesting for your guests when they are browsing your list.
If you need some inspiration on how to ask your guests to contribute towards your honeymoon then this poem may help:
We've lived together quite a while
with all our pots and pans,
and as we don’t need homely gifts
we’ve got another plan!
We know it's not traditional
but an awful lot more fun,
to have items on our wedding list
to help us catch some sun!
So if you’d like to give a gift
and send us on our way
a donation to our honeymoon
would really make our day!!
