Credit card charges

When your guests contribute to your Bottom Drawer gift list using a debit card there is no additional fee added to their order (unlike other gift list providers that add on 8% or more!). We also give your guests the option of reserving an order online or over the phone and then completing over the phone or by sending a cheque. This is important as there are still many people that don’t like buying online or using a debit/credit card. Not all gift list services allow cheque payments. We do not charge extra for receiving cheques.

However, we do need to pass on a small charge of 2.75% when credit cards are used. This is because the credit card companies impose quite large fees on companies to be able to accept credit cards as a form of payment. As our admin fees for using our service are such good value, if all your guests used a credit card to contribute to your list the charges we pay the card company could come to more than we get in the admin fee! That is why we do need to pass them on. However, we keep the charge to an absolute minimum and your guests will be informed of this before completing their order. Your guests will also be offered the options of paying by cheque or debit card. You will also have the option to choose to pay these credit card charges yourself if you would prefer that your guests can pay by credit card without surcharge. The appropriate amount will then be deducted from your gift list funds after your list closes.
